Adeniyi Johnson, a Nigerian actor, discussed his ten-year wait to become a father and his emotional journey to parenthood.
In 2023, Johnson and his spouse welcomed their first children, a pair of twins.
The proud 46-year-old father shared that his path to fatherhood involved two marriages and innumerable years of prayer and tenacity in a recent interview with fellow actor Kneel Afod.
According to him, he waited three years for a child in his first marriage before everything fell apart.
In 2016, Adeniyi started dating Oluwaseyi, and the two became husband and wife in 2018. Holding onto God for a child, they prayed and participated in religious activities together for seven years.
Their perseverance and patience paid off in February 2023 when they welcomed a set of twins a boy and a girl.
Looking back, Adeniyi said that his patience and faith got him through the difficult time, and that the lengthy wait made the blessing that came later all the more significant.
He said:
“The vigil was much but we thank God that what one has been crying over God turned it into joy. It is a cry of 10 years. I waited for 10 years.
Myself and the mother of the twins have been seeking God’s face for a child for seven years. And when it came, God said he wanted to gift me with twins. What do I do?
Whenever I am at home, and I see them climbing on top of me, I am always very happy. I would say thank you, God. Other people buy diapers for one child, for us we buy two.
We bless God for provision. They also eat well. We did not allow age to tell on us. And we thank God we do not look like what we have passed through.”
