A Nigerian man has taken to Twitter to share his heartbreaking long-distance relationship experience.
The man, simply identified as Emeka, described how he had sent a cake to his girlfriend’s office to surprise her on her birthday, but the surprise was ultimately on him.
According to Emeka, his girlfriend shared the cake with her office boyfriend before leaving him to marry the same colleague.
This experience, he claimed, was the reason he was convinced that long-distance relationships couldn’t work.
Emeka’s story was in response to another Twitter user’s suggestion that long-distance relationships were only bad for business.
However, Emeka’s experience seemed to prove otherwise, and he was not shy about expressing his dissatisfaction with the concept of long distance relationships.
He posted on Twitter;
“Long distance that I sent surprise birthday cake to at her office that she ate with office boyfriend who she’s married to today? Don’t get on my last nerves.”
The tweet quickly went viral, with many users sympathizing with Emeka and sharing their own stories of failed long-distance relationships.
Some users, on the other hand, contended that Emeka’s experience was not necessarily representative of all long-distance relationships, and that there were many successful long-distance relationships out there.
