“I Gave Him My Phone at 19… And He Used It Against Me: A Nigerian Woman’s Painful Love Story”

A Nigerian lady has sparked intense reactions online after sharing a heartbreaking story about a relationship she had at 19—one filled with deception, manipulation, and emotional abuse.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted how trust and love at a young age nearly cost her peace of mind.

It all began when her then-boyfriend claimed his phone was broken. Out of love, she gave him her own phone, leaving herself without one. Whenever she needed to make calls, she borrowed a friend’s phone and inserted her SIM card. To avoid questions, she even lied that her phone had been stolen.

Little did she know, he had already blocked her number. “He was the only one who could call me at that time because he had already blocked my line,” she revealed. She would call repeatedly, cry endlessly, and blame herself for not being able to reach him.

The heartbreak didn’t stop there. She later discovered she wasn’t the only woman in the relationship. The man had a girlfriend and even told her that she was “forcing herself on him.”

Her worst shock came when she saw her own phone in the hands of another girl during class—her course mate. It turned out he had given her phone to his girlfriend after the girl’s device was stolen, while he bought a new one for himself. When confronted, he lied, claiming the girl was his cousin and needed the phone for business. “I believed him,” she admitted. She even apologised for getting angry and allowed the girl to continue using her phone.

Despite enduring manipulation and heartbreak, she stayed in the toxic relationship for over two years, experiencing more pain than she could recount in a single post.

Her story has resonated with many online, as people reflect on the challenges of young love, trust, and emotional abuse in relationships.
