Anthony Chinasa-Abiola, the Labour Party candidate who won a seat in the Abia state House of Assembly, has denied claims that he is of Yoruba descent.
Because of the “Abiola” in his name, it has been speculated that Chinasa-Abiola, who was elected to represent Umuahia Central Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, is a Yoruba man.
He has now clarified in an interview with TVC that he is not of the Yoruba ethnic group.
According to him, he took the name Abiola to show support for Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos.
He explained that the name Abiola is simply a “nickname” or “guy name” he uses.
