“I Almost Went to Meet Him”: Nigerian Lady Shares How Online Boyfriend’s Arrest Saved Her Life

A Nigerian lady has stirred massive reactions online after sharing how a shocking discovery saved her from what she believes could have been a dangerous situation.

The X (formerly Twitter) user, @ARIAREIGN180683, revealed that she met her online boyfriend on Snapchat, and their relationship quickly became financially beneficial to her.

According to her, the man—whose real identity she never fully knew—consistently sent her money and even paid for three years’ house rent after she claimed hers had expired. She described him as someone who portrayed himself as coming from a wealthy family with generational riches.

Things escalated after just three months of online dating when the man invited her to Benin City and sent her ₦600,000 for flight arrangements.

However, just as she was preparing for the trip, a friend raised serious concerns after seeing the man’s photo, warning that he might be dangerous and could allegedly be involved in ritual activities.

Despite the warning, she admitted she initially continued making secret plans to visit him. But in a strange turn, she said she suddenly felt uneasy and unmotivated to travel. She canceled the trip, gave him an excuse, and even received another ₦700,000 from him to reschedule.

The situation took a dramatic twist shortly after when news broke—reportedly spreading fast on TikTok—that the man had been arrested for murder.

Describing her reaction, she said she was overwhelmed with fear and shock, realizing how close she might have come to danger. She expressed relief and gratitude, believing the last-minute hesitation saved her life.

The story has since gone viral, with many social media users reacting strongly—some pointing out the risks of online relationships, while others highlighted how intuition and timely warnings can sometimes prevent tragedy.
