How to Use JAMB CAPS to Check, Accept & Reject Admission Offers

The admissions procedure for Nigerian higher education institutions is made simpler by JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

This tutorial shows you how to manage your admission status using the JAMB CAPS Admission Status Portal.

Key Actions on the JAMB CAPS Portal

JAMB CAPS allows you to:

  • Accept or reject admission offers.
  • Get real-time updates on admission status.
  • Upload O-Level results if necessary.

You will not be considered for admission by other institutions if you accept an offer, but you can still receive offers from other institutions if you decline.

Steps to Check and Respond to Admission Offers on JAMB CAPS

Follow these steps to verify and respond to admission offers.

Accessing JAMB CAPS on a Computer

  1. Visit the JAMB E-facility website.
  2. Enter your email address and password, then sign in.
  3. Click on “Check Admission Status”.
  4. Select your examination year, enter your JAMB registration number, and click “Access my CAPS”.
  5. Choose “Admission Status” from the menu.
  6. Under “Admission Profile”, you will see your current status.
    • If admitted, options to “Accept Admission” or “Reject Admission” will appear.
    • If no offer is available, the options will be greyed out.

If you have not been offered admission yet, continue to check the portal.

Accessing JAMB CAPS on a Mobile Device

To view admission status on mobile, use the Chrome browser and follow these steps:

  1. Go to the JAMB E-facility website and sign in.
  2. Select “Check Admission Status” and provide the required details.
  3. If you only see a welcome message, switch to desktop mode by clicking the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome and selecting “Desktop site”.
  4. Choose “Admission Status” and click “Search” next to your JAMB Registration Number.
  5. You can then accept or reject the offer under “Admission Profile”.

Accepting or rejecting an offer is free of charge.

Once accepted, print your JAMB Admission Letter for use during your institution’s registration and clearance.

How to Respond to Programme or Course Transfer on JAMB CAPS

If offered a different programme, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the JAMB E-facility portal.
  2. Log in and select “Check Admission Status”.
  3. Choose your examination year, enter your JAMB registration number, and access CAPS.
  4. Select “Transfer Approval” and click “Accept” or “Decline” as desired.
