How my father helped me achieve my dream of studying in America after three failed JAMB trials – A Nigerian woman shares an inspiring story

A Nigerian woman shared a touching testimony on Twitter about how her father’s unwavering faith and sacrifice helped her achieve her dream of studying in America.

According to the woman, exactly twenty years ago, she was hopeless and had just failed JAMB after her third attempt.

She was sitting on a tattered chair in the small bedroom she shared with her five younger siblings when she decided to pursue her dream of studying in America.

She stated, “In the second picture, exactly 14 years ago today, my father who started this journey to ensure his child studied in one of the most renowned universities in the world saw it to the end. I graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, a top 5 public university, after four years of studying and interning four times at Fortune 100 companies.”

The woman then expressed her faith in God, claiming that her testimony proves God exists.

“What God cannot do does not exist, and we are living examples of our parents’ answered prayers,” she said.

She also advocated for greater recognition of Nigerian parents’ sacrifices and hard work in ensuring their children’s success, particularly fathers.

“We don’t talk enough about our Fathers, their dreams for us, their unwavering prayers, and unquestionable sacrifices,” she said.

The woman revealed that her father encouraged her to get the SAT forms after overhearing his very wealthy friend lovingly talking to his daughter on the phone in Maryland, USA.

Despite his limited financial resources, her father paid for her transportation to MET, where she studied for the SAT and passed with flying colors.

“Many of our parents sold everything they had for us, borrowed money, and traveled to faraway places with the last kobo they had to get favors for us.” I want us to talk about them because they deserve to be recognized. “Our parents are legendary,” she exclaimed.

Many Twitter users have expressed their admiration for the woman’s inspiring story and shared their own stories of parental sacrifice.

According to one user,

“This is such an inspiring story! It’s a reminder of the lengths our parents will go to ensure our success. We owe them everything”.
