Tiwa Savage, an Afrobeat artist, has revealed the challenges that come with being a single mother in the entertainment world, recognising the importance of support in her life.
In a recent interview with BBNaija alumnus Tacha on the Big Friday Show, Tiwa talked about her impending new album, creative process, and motherhood journey.
She emphasized the value of her mother and the assistance she gets from others when asked about raising her son Jamil.
“It takes a village, raising my son as a single mum. I always need my mum. I call on my mum, she’s very instrumental, and we have a nanny that has been with us since he was three months old, and he’s nine now, so she has been with us for nine years,” she said.
She also mentioned her son’s godmothers, who help her when she has to travel for work. Tiwa stated that being a mother does not end when children become adults.
“I look at my mum, and she still mothers me at this age. She still calls to ask if I’ve eaten and tells me to drink lots of water and rest. When she sees things online, she still worries about me at my big age. Our jobs don’t end.”
Tiwa praised women’s ability to multitask, managing full-time motherhood with career duties.
