A Nigerian X (formerly Twitter) user, @AshE-Nuel, has shared a heartbreaking story about how his relationship with a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) came to an abrupt end.
According to him, he had already completed his NYSC while his girlfriend still had about four months left to serve. He revealed that he had serious intentions of proposing to her immediately after her service year.
However, things took a painful turn when a close friend contacted him after spotting his girlfriend at a club. The friend reportedly sent a photo showing her seated in the VIP section, which immediately raised concerns.
Shocked, he confronted her and requested a video call, but she allegedly blamed her inability to connect on a low phone battery. Moments later, his friend sent him a video clip showing another man getting physically intimate with her at the club.
The discovery left him devastated.
Recounting how he handled the situation, he wrote:
“She saw it an hour later and started calling my phone. I picked up and said, ‘From Sokoto to Ibadan to a club?’ I switched off my phone. I couldn’t sleep, all the foolish proposals I wanted to make, I quickly scrapped. The next day, I was shaken, but I had to let her go. I told her, ‘You’re not worth my sweat.’”
Despite her repeated pleas and attempts to reach him, he chose to end the relationship.
The viral post has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many debating trust, loyalty, and the challenges of long-distance relationships during the NYSC year.
Here are some reactions trailing the viral post:
- “NYSC relationships need strong trust. Once trust is broken, it’s over.”
- “From Sokoto to Ibadan to a club? That line alone finished me.”
- “Low battery is always the anthem when someone is hiding something.”
- “At least he found out before proposing. God saved him from premium tears.”
- “Why was the friend recording instead of minding his business?”
- “Club doesn’t automatically mean cheating, but that video? Omo.”
- “Four months to go and she couldn’t stay loyal? That’s painful.”
- “He handled it maturely. No drama, no dragging — just walked away.”
The story has sparked conversations about trust, long-distance relationships during NYSC, and the role of friends in exposing infidelity.
