A Nigerian lady has ignited widespread reactions on social media after calling out men who slide into women’s DMs with heavy compliments, only to quickly pivot to a vague “let’s hang out.”
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @ChukEricE, the woman described a pattern she says many women are tired of: exaggerated praise followed by unclear intentions.
According to her, the messages often start with lines like “You’re so fine,” “You’re so pretty,” or “I’ve never seen a girl like you before,” before moving on to questions about her relationship status or a casual invitation to hang out.
Questioning the ambiguity, she asked pointedly:
“Hang out as what? Can I take you on a date, if possible spend some time with you. Spend some time with who, as your what? Your nanny, wife, or girlfriend? Do you even know me before?”
She went on to criticize men who, in her view, hide their real intentions behind casual language, arguing that most are only interested in one thing and rarely offer genuine support or respect.
“You can’t change all this your ‘spend some time with you’ to ‘I love what you do and I support you with this amount.’
No, you won’t do that one. You think I don’t know you want to sleep with me? That’s what you all have to offer, nothing else.”
The video quickly gained traction, triggering massive reactions online. Many women applauded her bluntness, saying she voiced frustrations they’ve long kept to themselves.
One user wrote, “She said everything women have been thinking but couldn’t say.”
Another added, “If you want to date someone, say it clearly. This ‘let’s hang out’ nonsense is tiring.”
However, not everyone agreed. Some men pushed back, arguing that not every DM comes with hidden motives and that casual conversations shouldn’t automatically be seen as an attempt to hook up.
Despite the divided opinions, the video has reignited conversations around communication, intentions, and honesty in modern dating—especially in the age of social media DMs.
