Chioma Akpotha, a popular Nollywood actress, has described how she was allegedly attacked by thugs at her polling unit during the governorship and state house of assembly elections in Lagos.
On Saturday, March 18, the actress took to Instagram to share her ordeal, saying she had done her accreditation and was waiting to vote when some armed men attacked her polling unit.
She claimed that when the guys with knives, bottles, and guns saw her with her phone, they came after her with the intent to injure her.
She stated that, fortunately, she was able to get into her car and drive away, but that they had damaged it.
Chioma Akpotha, who had a similar experience during the presidential election, stated that the violence today is far worse than what she witnessed on election day.
She posted a video of dozens of voters standing outside the polling place, afraid to enter after being intimidated by thugs.
In one of the videos, she is seen reporting the incident to officers in a police truck before driving home and stating that she will not put her life in danger any further.
