A Nigerian man has been left devastated after his wife reportedly walked out of their marriage just five months after they tied the knot.
According to a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) shared by his colleague, Ebun, the man first met his wife when she was in 300 level. He fell deeply in love with her, drawn not only to her beauty but also to the life he envisioned together. Determined to give her the best, he spared no expense, even taking loans to fund her lifestyle.
When it came time for their wedding, he went all out once again, borrowing more money to ensure the ceremony matched his wife’s elegance. Their big day took place mid-last year, and for a while, everything seemed perfect.
But trouble began a few months later. His workplace started owing staff up to three months’ salary, and his personal business began to slow down. As financial pressures mounted, the marriage reportedly started to crack. According to reports, his wife began showing signs of frustration and gave him attitude, leaving him confiding in colleagues for advice. They encouraged him to persevere, reminding him that he had already set a high standard from the start.
The situation took a dramatic turn in December. Before the man returned from work one day, his wife had packed up completely and left. She left behind a note that read: “GO AND FIX YOUR BROKE LIFE.”
Since that day, the man has been heartbroken—not only mourning the sudden end of his marriage but also grappling with the debt he took on to fund their wedding.
The story has ignited conversations online about the pressures of financial expectations in relationships, the risk of prioritizing lifestyle over love, and the challenges of sustaining a marriage built heavily on material spending.
