FUNAAB student who had 9 Fs in 100 level celebrates graduating with second class lower

A student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has inspired many after sharing his academic journey from having nine carryovers in his first semester to finally graduating with a Second Class Lower degree.

The student, identified by his handle @meloadebanks_ on X (formerly Twitter), took to the platform to celebrate his graduation, revealing that many had doubted his ability to finish school due to his poor academic start.

In his emotional post, he wrote: “From 9 carryovers… to a Degree. God, I could cry right now 🥹 They saw the GPA. They saw the list of Fs. They saw the odds and said I wouldn’t make it.”

But what they didn’t see was the grind. The retakes. The resits. The nights I didn’t sleep. The mental battles. The spiritual ones. The hunger to rewrite my story.”

“Today? I graduate with a Second Class Lower. No extra year. No carryovers left. Clean slate. Closed chapter.”

“So if you ever saw that tweet and thought I wouldn’t bounce back — here’s your answer. This is what grace, grit, and God look like.”
