Amid fuel scarcity, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised Nigerian motorists and passengers against transporting petroleum products in jericans (kegs) because of the danger it poses.
In a statement, the agency said its
patrol team intercepted a total of 92 motorists conveying fuel in jericans, adding that they were enforced to pour the contents into vehicle tanks.
“In compliance with Corps Marshal’s directive on checking of vehicles carrying fuel in jericans, a total of ninety-two (92) motorists were found to be engaged in such unsafe practices in Rivers State.
“FRSC Operatives ensured that the fuel were safely poured into the car tanks.”
“Drivers and passengers are strongly advised against carrying petroleum products in kegs because of the danger it poses,” the agency said in a statement.
