A Nigerian woman has shared a remarkable story of survival after her father fully recovered from a life-threatening accident that doctors initially said would require amputation.
The lady, identified on social media as @Vickish11, shared the account while reacting to reports surrounding the death of Chimamanda’s son at a Nigerian hospital, allegedly due to medical negligence.
According to her, her father fell from a five-storey building and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Medical professionals reportedly informed the family that his leg was beyond saving and recommended immediate amputation to prevent further complications.
However, his wife rejected the decision and insisted on exploring other options. The family transferred him to another hospital, but the second facility was initially reluctant to admit him due to the severity of his injuries. When they eventually did, doctors reportedly gave the same verdict—that amputation was the only viable option.
Distrusting hospitals based on past experiences, the family made the difficult decision to seek alternative treatment. He was taken to a traditional doctor, where his leg was treated over an extended period. The treatment reportedly involved repeated bone resetting, the application of pads, and continuous care.
Defying medical expectations, the man’s leg gradually healed completely. He has since regained full mobility, walks normally, and has returned to work.

My mum refused.
She insisted we transfer him to another hospital. That hospital didn’t even want to admit him because his case was too critical, but when they eventually did, they gave us the same verdict: his leg had to be cut off.
My parents don’t fully trust hospitals, so they made a difficult decision. They took him to a traditional doctor instead. The doctor applied pads, reset the bones multiple times, and treated him over a long period.
Against all odds, my dad’s leg healed completely. Today, he walks normally and even returned to work.”
The story has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians debating medical negligence, faith, resilience, and the contrasting roles of orthodox and traditional healthcare in the country.
