Entrepreneur loses millions after buying faulty Mercedes-Benz A220

A Nigerian entrepreneur has shared her heartbreaking ordeal after spending ₦45 million on a Mercedes-Benz A220, only to discover it had serious underlying issues.

The businesswoman, identified as @midrizzy1 on X (formerly Twitter), explained that she kept the purchase secret from family and friends, hoping to surprise them with the luxury car.

According to her viral post, she randomly reached out to a contact who sent her photos of available vehicles. Excited by the offer, she proceeded with the purchase.

Problems begin

About a month after buying the vehicle, it started overheating. What initially seemed like a minor issue later turned out to be a serious engine problem.

She reportedly spent ₦10 million on repairs in an attempt to fix the faults.

Shocking VIN discovery

After fixing the car, she approached buyers to resell it. During the process, a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) scan revealed that the car was imported from Canada and was likely flood-damaged before importation.

This discovery significantly reduced its market value, as many buyers avoid vehicles with prior flood damage due to long-term electrical and engine risks.

Realizing she had likely been deceived from the start, she eventually sold the car for just ₦5 million in Lagos, incurring a massive financial loss.

She later purchased another Mercedes-Benz A220 from a different dealer.

Her story has since sparked conversations online about the risks of buying imported luxury vehicles without proper background checks.
