Drama has continued to trail a Nigerian lady after her ex-boyfriend allegedly stormed the salon he once set up for her and removed everything inside, following news of her engagement to another man.
The incident, which has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), was captured in a video showing the visibly angry man confronting his ex at the salon. In the footage, he accused her of planning her traditional marriage with another man while still benefiting from a business he claimed to have fully financed.
Amid the heated confrontation, the man was seen carting away salon equipment and other items, insisting that he bought them and therefore had every right to take them back.
Reacting to the situation, the lady did not hold back as she defended her decision to move on with her life. She questioned her ex’s actions, especially his decision to record the incident and post it online.
According to her, she had valid reasons for not marrying him, despite his financial support in setting up the salon.
“Why will he video me and post it online?” she asked. “If I were your sister, will you allow me to marry a Yahoo Yahoo person? The boy didn’t even go to school, and you’re asking me why I didn’t marry him just because he opened a shop for me.”
She further stressed that marriage is a personal choice and cannot be forced on anyone, regardless of past sacrifices or investments.
“I won’t marry him; it’s not by force,” she said firmly. “Now my fiancé is angry because he has locked the store.”
The incident has since triggered intense conversations online, with Nigerians divided over the matter. While some argued that the man had the right to retrieve what he paid for, others criticised his actions, insisting that gifts given in a relationship should not be reclaimed after a breakup.
As the debate rages on, the viral video continues to fuel discussions around entitlement, heartbreak, and the blurred line between generosity and control in modern relationships.
