Despite reporting an accident, NYSC member laments receiving a query

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) expressed his annoyance after being questioned about why he failed to report to his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in spite of being in an accident.

Sharing his experience on X (formerly Twitter), the corps member recounted his ordeal while participating in a discussion about NYSC challenges.

He explained that the accident had left him unable to resume at his assigned workplace. According to him, he had properly notified both his PPA and the Local Government Inspector (LGI) about his condition. Initially, they appeared understanding of his situation, but he was later issued a formal query despite following the necessary procedures.

Few weeks ago, this happened to me, returning from my PPA. One week later, they served me a query because my PPA was visited, and I wasn’t on the ground. Me wey dey recover for house,” he wrote.

“I promise you I did both. Walahi, my PPA understood and sympathized with me (perhaps because I’m not being paid). LG office said it was well with me that week, then slammed me with a query the next week.”

As his post became popular online, numerous worried people filled the comment section to express their opinions about his experience.

@cee_4ourr: “They’ll tell you why not go to the NHIS hospital they gave you.”

@MzTaiwoO: “This cannot happen in Lagos state during my own time oo. All you have to do is write to your PPA and your LG office. If you didn’t do that, they will serve you na.”
