David Adeleke, better known as Davido, the Afrobeats sensation, recently shared the story of how he met his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, shedding light on their blossoming relationship.
The couple first met while studying at Babcock University, where Davido majored in music and Chioma majored in Economics.
In 2015, they began their romantic journey.
Davido gave his fans a glimpse into his daily life in a captivating documentary alongside YouTuber and vlogger Tayo Aina.
The video, which lasts 43 minutes, delves into the singer’s hectic schedule, which includes constant travel, brief respites, and relaxation aboard private jets soaring thousands of feet above sea level.
Davido manages to bask in the affection he has for his beloved wife, Chioma, in the captivating documentary, recounting the story of their first encounter and how he attempted to strike up a conversation with her during their first year at university.
In his own words;
“I was in school for a year before I blew up. That was when I met my wife. I remember the day I saw her. I can never forget. I was in a Prado, and I looked behind, and I saw this girl walking.
Just there with her bag, it was Chioma. I told Lat (Davido’s personal assistant), ‘Omo, I like that girl. Go and call that girl for me.”
However, the first attempts to make contact were met with silence because Chioma did not respond at the time.
Despite this, fate intervened, and Chioma eventually found her way to Lagos, where the two reconnected.
Davido reflected, saying,
“Later on, she came to Lagos, and we linked up. And I was like, ‘Yeah, I got you.”

This might not be an accurate interpretation of what played out but I could tell David was exhausted and somewhat directionless about the show. That’s where the whole team came together to lift his spirit up. Their attempt wasn’t so wild and obvious but if you observe closely, there was a soothing blend of support, understanding, worry and provision for any form of compromise. Immediately David sprouted up and shouted “Oya, are you ready?” Epic!!!
Thanks for capturing such an amazing moment Tayo✨
