Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has debunked rumours making rounds that Nigerian billionaire businessman, Mike Adenuga, is dead.
Online rumors circulated that Adenuga, 71, the founder of Globacom, Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator with operations in Ghana and the Benin Republic, and the fifth-richest person in Africa according to Forbes, had died.
But Momodu reassured the public in a statement Tuesday evening that the business tycoon is still alive and well.
He revealed that he spoke with Adenuga on the phone, who affirmed that he continues to play a significant role in Nigeria’s economy.
The septuagenarian is doing remarkably well, so there is no reason for alarm, he insisted, adding that Adenuga expresses gratitude for Nigerians’ worries.
“Ignore the fake news,” he said. The Spirit of Africa DR MICHAEL ADENIYI AGBOLADE ISOLA ADENUGA is hale and hearty. He’s right now at his desk working round the clock in support of the Nigerian economy… He just called me to thank everyone for their concern.”
Adenuga is the chairman of conoil, an oil exploration firm, and received a drilling license and in 1991, after which his Consolidated Oil struck oil in the shallow waters of Southwestern Ondo State, making him the first indigenous oil company to do so in commercial quantity.
