A video of a little boy prostrating to an elder has gone viral on TikTok, in a heartwarming display of traditional culture and respect.
The boy, a Yoruba from Nigeria, was caught on camera demonstrating his culture’s traditional way of greeting elders.
As of the time of sharing, the video, posted by @olori_luxurycollections, had received thousands of likes and comments.
In the video, the little boy approaches the stranger who has just entered the house and prostrates to greet him.
The stranger, visibly moved by the gesture, smiles and hugs the boy.
Prostrating is a traditional form of greeting used by the Yoruba people of Nigeria that conveys respect and humility.
The young boy’s demonstration of this traditional greeting elicited many positive responses from TikTok users, who praised him for his manners and culture.
One user added a comment;
