An Abuja court has granted bail to controversial singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, following pressure on the Nigeria Police Force to present him in court.
Deji Adeyanju, Darlington’s attorney, verified the news on X, writing: “Speed Darlington is finally arraigned by police in court. The application for bail was granted. We are trying to perfect same.” The bail conditions’ exact details have not yet been made public.
Darlington had previously petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja, DIG Dasuki Galadanchi, to end his detention. He urged adherence to a court order issued by Justice M.S. Liman on December 23, 2024, giving the police 48 hours to either charge him or release him unconditionally.
The singer was arrested after he claimed that Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy had an inappropriate relationship with American music mogul Sean Combs, better known as P. Diddy.
