A Nigerian lawyer has shed light on what transpired in court during a session involving billionaire businessman Linus Williams, popularly known as Blord, and social media critic Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan).
Blord was reportedly arrested and remanded in Kuje Prison on April 1, 2026, over allegations of impersonating VeryDarkMan. The charges against him include impersonation, forgery, and criminal conspiracy, with claims that he used VeryDarkMan’s identity and image to promote business ventures without consent.
According to lawyer Olanipekun Tobi, who shared updates via his X handle, the charges were formally read in court before the judge ruled that Blord should remain in Kuje Prison until April 27 (note: reports mention 2025, which appears to be a likely error).
In a surprising twist, VeryDarkMan allegedly recorded a video of himself escorting Blord to detention — a move that has since sparked debate online.
“VeryDarkMan (VDM) v BLORD (Linus Williams) came up in court today. After reading his charges, the court remanded Blord in Kuje Prison till 27th April. Guess what VDM did? He made a video of himself escorting BLORD to Kuje Prison. What kind of pettiness is this?” the lawyer wrote.
Meanwhile, amid the controversy, a Nigerian lady, Anabel Oluebubechukwu, shared a contrasting story about Blord’s generosity. She claimed that after her friend lost her job, Blord noticed her at his office, instructed security to collect her CV, and eventually offered her employment.
Reactions Online
The incident has sparked mixed reactions across social media:
Some users criticized VeryDarkMan, describing his actions as unnecessary and “childish,” especially given the seriousness of the case.
Others defended him, arguing that if the allegations are true, Blord deserved the public embarrassment.
A section of users praised Blord, pointing to stories of his generosity and kindness, like the job offer shared by Anabel.
Legal observers weighed in, noting that the case highlights the growing issue of digital impersonation and personal branding disputes in Nigeria.
