After taking a family tree DNA test, Celina and Joseph Quinones discovered that they are cousins.
The couple from Colorado had been married for 17 years and had three beautiful children when Celina, the wife, decided to research her ancestors.
The mother-of-three had only just begun researching her ancestors when she discovered her husband, Joseph, was her cousin.
She described the moment she discovered her husband was also her cousin on her TikTok account, @realestatemommas.
According to her, she and her husband married in 2006 and had three children, only to discover years later that they are related.
“In 2006, I married my husband.” We had three children without thinking twice about it. We discovered we were related and cousins.” She penned a letter.
Celina encouraged other couples to check their ancestry after sharing the video.
She later revealed in a video that her family has moved on from the discovery because her children are not affected by any genetic disorders or abnormalities.
“This was three kids in that I found out we were related. I did my DNA test I think in 2016 and yeah it was devastating because I was like ‘babe we’re related are we even supposed to be together? This is weird’. It really freaked me out.
“I wouldn’t change it for the world… Husband and wife for life! There is a reason why good couples look alike. I am just over here raising awareness. My kids and my husband are my everything and we looked past it. All our kids have 10 fingers and 10 toes. It’s a good ice breaker lol.” She wrote.
