Controversial freelancer and social media personality, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Corper Raye, has stirred reactions online after revealing that she quit volunteering with an NGO that catered to single mothers.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, Raye recounted how she became frustrated after one of the single mothers at the NGO announced that she was pregnant again.
According to her, she found the situation contradictory to the purpose of the initiative.
She wrote, “Two months ago I volunteered with an NGO to cater for single mothers and see how we can foot some bills. Tell me why one of the single mothers said God has blessed her again? Meaning she’s pregnant! How are you a single mother and pregnant? I’ve quit volunteering please!”
The post quickly went viral, attracting hundreds of comments from users who either supported her perspective or called her out for being judgmental.
While some agreed that many welfare initiatives for single mothers are sometimes abused, others defended the woman’s right to feel joyful about her pregnancy.
One user replied, “You can’t wait to want to be socially correct to be a kind person. What she deems a blessing in her experience is not up for your own judgment. Her story could also teach us that perhaps educating and orienting women is more important than supplying them hand-outs.”
Raye, who did not take kindly to the criticism, fired back with a lengthy response, saying she was only venting and had no patience for those who constantly attacked her online.
“One thing about me is I don’t care what society thinks. I’ve been called rude, stubborn, and all sorts of names. Do you think I give AF? This was me just venting. So many things I’ve done behind closed doors that I never mentioned. I was just frustrated and venting. That aside, you are mentally not okay. Stupid MFs always waiting to criticize me for existing and tweeting like everyone else. You hate that my tweet gets people talking and not yours? Nonsense behavior,” she fumed.

The outburst has further fueled her controversial reputation, with online users divided between defending her bluntness and condemning her harsh tone toward critics.
