Church called off the wedding after the bride refused to stay at the pastor’s house

A couple’s wedding was reportedly called off by the Assemblies of God Church, Okpu 2, in Aba, Abia State, after the bride declined to stay overnight at the pastor’s home.

It has been reported that the bride declined to stay overnight at the host pastor’s home, which is a church requirement before a member can marry.

This procedure was instituted in order to have the officiating priest’s wife counsel the bride on the eve of the wedding.

Another church regulation was that a bride must take a pregnancy test before the marriage can be consummated.

According to Promise Uzoma Okoro, an eyewitness “the bride’s refusal to stay at the parsonage, as required, prompted church authorities to cancel the wedding.”

Guests had already assembled for the event when the announcement was made”, Okoro disclosed.
