What was meant to be a joyful Christmas reunion turned tragic in Oben Village, Benin City, Edo State, after a young man identified simply as Didi was brutally killed under shocking circumstances.
Didi, who reportedly returned from abroad to celebrate the festive season with his family, was allegedly lured into a bush by a longtime childhood friend, Amadin William, popularly known as Old Soldier.
According to reports shared by @ChuksEricE on X (formerly Twitter), Didi was attacked and murdered shortly after arriving at the location, leaving residents of the community devastated and in disbelief.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the area, triggering tension and outrage within the community. However, he was later arrested in Benin City, where he was said to have been hiding.
The tragic killing has sparked widespread anger online and offline, with many expressing shock over the alleged betrayal by a trusted childhood friend.
The incident has cast a dark shadow over Christmas celebrations in Oben Village, serving as a painful reminder of how misplaced trust can have deadly consequences.
