Chess master Tunde Onakoya wins an activism award after defeating Verydarkman.

Popular critic VeryDarkMan and chess master Tunde Onakoya, who holds the Guinness World Record, engaged in a high-stakes match to win an award at the 2024 Trendupp Awards.

The Trendupp Awards are well known for honoring brands, influencers, and content producers who excel at utilizing social media on a variety of platforms and in a variety of fields.

Remember that in April, Onakoya made headlines when he broke the record for the longest chess marathon in Times Square, New York City, with a play-through of more than 58 hours?

Conversely, VeryDarkMan uses his platform to speak out against injustices and promote social change. He is a strong opponent of social vices.

At the Trendupp Awards, Tunde Onakoya and VeryDarkMan faced off in the fiercely competitive “Force For Social Good” category; however, the former emerged victorious.

They faced off against prominent figures like Nigeria’s leading health influencer Aproko Doctor, Kokun Foundation’s philanthropic founder Adepeju Olukokun, renowned humanitarian Osita Popcorn, and dance choreographer and humanitarian Seyi Oluyole.
