Chelsea sign Dewsbury-Hall for £30m from Leicester

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, a midfielder for Chelsea Football Club, has officially joined from Leicester City for a fee of £30 million.

The 25-year-old joins the Blues as their fourth summer addition, joining Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, and Marc Guiu.

With 12 goals and 14 assists during Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign, Dewsbury-Hall was a key player for former manager Enzo Maresca, who is also moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.

It is anticipated that the transfer will help Leicester substantially in fulfilling Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), though it is not yet known if the team will be completely compliant.

Dewsbury-Hall joined Leicester City at the age of eight, so his 17-year relationship with the team comes to an end with his departure.

He reflected on his time with the Foxes and expressed his gratitude in an emotional farewell message on Instagram.

He said, “Well what can I say? What a journey it’s been. Seventeen years of my life devoted to this club and it’s been a pleasure. I’ve loved every minute of my time at this football club and created some memories & friendships I’ll never forget.”

The midfielder also addressed Leicester’s recent relegation and subsequent promotion, stating, “When we were relegated in the 2022/23 season, I felt personally responsible for my part played in that. I made it my goal to ensure we got back to the Premier League within the first season, as I know how devastating a position that can be for a club if it doesn’t happen.”

Dewsbury-Hall expressed pride in the team’s achievements last season and thanked the fans for their support.

“The overwhelming amount of messages I’ve received in the past few days has honestly touched me and I thank each and every person for taking the time to do so, it means so much to me and my family. I’m one of your own, Leicester. But it’s time for me to go now,” he said.
