Car dealer raises alarm as client who paid ₦45 million for vehicle purchase disappears

A Nigerian car dealer has expressed concern after a customer who paid ₦45 million for a car disappeared and was inaccessible for two years.

This was disclosed in a post on X (previously Twitter) by @maziechidiime, in which the Chairman/CEO of Echidiime Motors Limited conveyed his annoyance at the unresolved matter.

He claims that although he met the client on TikTok, all attempts to get in touch with him have been unsuccessful since the payment in 2023.

He went on to say that the client’s TikTok account has been banned, further severing all communication.

The dealer also mentioned that he tried to contact the bank to track down the customer using the account that was used for the transaction, but the bank has not given him any helpful information.

A client paid for a vehicle worth ₦45 million naira and ghosted us since 2023,” he wrote. “We have tried calling, texting, and reaching out to his bank but unfortunately, he’s an orphan🪶.”

He continued, “Sincerely, what do you think we should do? Okay. But his TikTok account has been deleted since then, because we met on TikTok.”

The unusual case has sparked conversation online, as many trooped to the comment section to offer suggestions and express concern.

See some reactions below:

@Mr_DaveChigozie: “I just hope he didn’t pass away, cause it’s likely be the issue he’s not active.”

@orgatitus: “Just trying to show us you have integrity. All na wash.”

@OgunniyiIs91778: “Keep his money waiting until he comes back unless he’s willing to add more fund for that same ride because definitely that same ride will cost twice the amount it was in 2023.”

@MaxwellAni4: “I agree with the guy be using it for your business one day maybe u will still hear about him.”

@Emirate_Wealth: “A lot of things could have happened to him that might not even be death he might be in a prison somewhere abroad anything is possible but I would say you save the money in a fixed account and give it more time since you have waited for over 2 years already.”

@kingkelly01042: “I’ld suggest in my own humble opinion that you have the funds locked in a term deposit say like two years or thereabouts where you still get interest on it 🖊️ No one knows what the next minute holds.”

@godwin32940: “If you said his TikTok has been deleted that means he’s active, he might be hiding from a crime or in jail. I will suggest you wait because surely he will surface someday.”

@ChizobaCynthia_: “Put out his picture on Facebook that you are looking for him and he’s your long lost friend. Don’t say anything about Car or money so fake people won’t flood your dms. Hopefully someone who knows him comes for him.”
