Candid Opinion on EFCC Raid

Why is EFCC conducting night raids on homes? Are they searching for drugs? Have they taken over the function of NDLEA? Financial crimes or white collar crimes are mostly about documents and hardly involve violence.

I know that fraudsters might wish to destroy documentary evidence on learning that it’s EFCC after them. However, almost every document needed to prosecute a suspect should actually be in the custody of EFCC before a raid is called. Such raids should be to apprehend the suspect and their accomplices, some of whom might not be known to the EFFC.

Usually, the police (EFCC has only the powers of the police) would obtain a search warrant before bursting a residence. Indeed, it is usually only when the suspect is arrested that they take them on a search of their residences and offices. Midnight raids are usually for potentially violent suspects.

You wish to minimize interference as much as possible, apart from having the advantage of surprise.
