Breaking: G5 Governors and Atiku Clash over Campaign

The Peoples Democratic Party’s post-election crisis took a new turn on Monday, when a Benue State High Court in Makurdi barred Senator Iyorchia Ayu from posing as the party’s national chairman.

The restraining order marked a resumption of hostility between a group supporting PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and five governors who refused to campaign for him during the 2023 election campaign.

The court decision came just 24 hours after the executive of Ayu’s Igyorov Ward in Benue State’s Gboko Local Government Area suspended the PDP chairman for alleged anti-party activities.

Ayu’s suspension came four days after the PDP’s National Working Committee suspended former governors Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina, Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu, and former Senate President Anyim Pius, among others, for alleged anti-party activities.
