Bishop Kukah and President Buhari meet in Aso Rock and exchange barbs

President Muhammadu Buhari’s sense of humour was on display on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, when he hurled humorous banters at Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, sending the latter reeling uncontrollably with laughter.

Bishop Kukah is well-known for being a critic of the Buhari administration, despite his early support for the All Progressive Congress’s victory in 2015.

The clergy who rule over the activities of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto had previously criticized Buhari’s leadership style, particularly on security issues.

Before both men could share a laugh, President Buhari stated that Nigeria’s capacity to attract loans for development was only feasible because creditors had faith in its ability to repay.

Kukah was part of the delegation that followed the Executive members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
