Olubankole Wellington, aka Banky W, a famous Nigerian singer and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for House of Representatives, Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State, said he is optimistic about winning the election this time.
“At the end of the day, for me, it’s all about the grace of God and the will of the Lagos people,” Banky said in an interview in Lagos on Saturday during the elections. And I believe we have both of them. So I’m confident that I’ll triumph this time.”
Banky W expressed his satisfaction with voter turnout and behavior, saying that voters were well prepared for the election process, with many arriving as early as 7 a.m.
“We have learnt many lessons from the previous elections, so we started our queue control a lot earlier. A few friends and I got here together and got canopies and chairs because that was the biggest polling unit in Eti-Osa,” he stated.
In 2019, the singer lost the Eti Osa Federal Constituency election to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
