Six people were killed in a multiple-car accident on the Ilorin-Omu Aran highway in Kwara State on Wednesday.
Frederick Ade Ogidan, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kwara State, confirmed the development in a phone conversation with DAILY POST on Thursday.
“Yes, it is true, six people died and nine others were seriously injured in the fatal accident, which was reportedly caused by overspeeding,” he said.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. and involved an ash-colored commercial Suzuki bus with the registration number BDJ-134XB and a blue-colored DAF trailer ABC 435XN loaded with onions from Sokoto State.
According to the Sector Commander, 15 people were involved in the car accident, all of whom were males, “with six killed and nine others suffering head injuries and fractures.”
According to Ogidan, the injured victims were transported to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, Ilorin, for treatment, while the bodies were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
