Artist Olamide talks about giving up music and what inspired him to create his most recent EP, Ikigai.

One of Nigeria’s most enduring hip-hop artists, Olamide Adedeji, better known by his stage name Olamide Baddo, is a well-known rapper, singer, and record label owner.

Ikigai, his most recent release, has been incredibly successful. Hello Habibi and Metaverse are two of the project’s standout songs among its selections.

Olamide discussed his new album and the inspiration behind it in a recent interview, following a nearly four-year hiatus from music.

2020 saw the release of Carpe Diem, his final album before Ikigai.

In an interview with Too Xclusive, he disclosed that in an attempt to focus more on songwriting, he almost gave up on music.

During the conversation, the Nigerian musician revealed that he almost gave up on music to focus only on writing songs.

However, he felt that his life would be meaningless without music, so after giving it some thought and doing some introspection, he concluded that he could not stop making it.

Olamide went on to discuss the meaning behind titling his most recent endeavor Ikigai, a Japanese term meaning leading a purposeful life.
