A 40-foot container-laden truck has crashed on the road in Lagos state’s Dopemu area.
In a tweet on Monday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident.
According to the agency, a short video of the upended truck was shared.
“A 40ft container laden truck fell at Sawmill inward Dopemu under the bridge,” the tweet reads.
“It’s occupying 90 percent of the road. Our men are on ground doing the needful as Effort is on for recovery.”
The incident occurred only 24 hours after nine passengers were killed when another container-laden truck collided with a commercial bus on the city’s Ojuelegba bridge.
Two children were among the casualties, according to Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Various containers have been involved in bridge accidents in the past.
In response to the latest accident, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised that barricades would be built on the bridge to restrict the movement of articulated vehicles.
