The second-largest telecom company in Nigeria, Airtel, has also changed its pricing structure in response to the recent outcry from Nigerians over MTN Nigeria’s tariff hike.
According to Airtel Nigeria, its data prices will be revised, with increases of up to 50%. This information was made available on its website on Monday.
A variety of data bundles are affected by the change, which also reflects the industry’s continuous worries about growing operating costs.
Over the weekend, the operator, which has more than 56 million subscribers, increased its voice call rates in addition to the data pricing adjustments.
In its updated pricing list, Airtel reassured its customers of continued affordability, stating, “Whatever your data needs are, we have a plan for you. Our fast, affordable, and reliable internet experience will keep you connected anytime, anywhere. To get started, Dial *312#.”
However, the company has yet to release an official statement addressing the reasons behind this tariff increase.
