A Nigerian lady has sparked debate online after criticising a bride who allegedly asked her bridesmaids to contribute money for a hotel suite days before the wedding.
Bridesmaid calls out bride
The bridesmaid, in a viral clip, complained bitterly about the additional financial demand despite already spending heavily on aso-ebi, heels, bags, gifts, transport and even mint notes to spray at the event.
She argued that it was inconsiderate for the bride to pressure her friends into paying for luxury accommodation just for good wedding pictures, insisting that weddings should be planned within budget.
The cost of friendship
According to her, being part of a wedding already comes with many hidden costs. From outfits to travel expenses, friends often shoulder the financial weight of celebrating their loved ones.
She maintained that after the wedding, the bride goes to her husband’s house while bridesmaids are left to return to their normal lives, sometimes in financial strain.
Her message was clear: weddings should be done within one’s means, and guests or bridesmaids should not be forced to fund the bride’s personal desires.
