Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, has appointed retired Army Captain Benedict Olusoji Akanni as the new Field Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps.
Captain Akanni’s appointment follows the resignation of Amitolu Shittu, the security outfit’s first Field Commander.
On January 20, 2023, Shittu announced his resignation in an open letter.
Amotekun is a security network formed by all governors in the South West.
It was established to supplement other federal security agencies’ efforts to combat crime in the South West zone.
According to information provided by Yussuf Idowu, the Spokesperson for Osun Amotekun on Tuesday, the appointment is effective immediately.
