Nollywood actor and politician Olumide Oworu has disclosed that he and members of his campaign staff were attacked while in Surulere.
The attack took place on March 14, according to the actor, a Labour Party candidate running against his senior colleague in the entertainment industry and Desmond Elliot of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Surulere constituency 1 election for the Lagos state house of assembly.
He claimed that during the assault, one of his team members was hurt. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the attack would not stop them from pursuing their campaign.
Oworu tweeted:
“My team and I were attacked on Tuesday as we attempted to campaign at Iponri, Surulere. A member of my team was injured, but we are thankful the incident didn’t escalate past the level it was. The case has been reported at the Iponri police station.
I am not deterred by the incident. Instead I am more committed to seeing this through. We will pass through the wards in constituency 1 (Akinhanmi/Cole, Adeniran/Ogunsanya, Iponri Housing Estate/Eric Moore, Igbaja/Stadium, Shitta/Ogunlana Drive, Yaba/Ojuelegba). See you outside!”
