Activist, Aisha Yesufu, refuses to stand up during the recitation of the new national anthem at an event (video)

Activist, Aisha Yesufu, refused to stand up for the recitation of the new national anthem at an event earlier today.

A video of Ms Yesufu sitting while others at the event stood up for the recitation of the anthem, has made the rounds on social media. Her disposition indicated that she is displeased with the recent reintroduction of the old National anthem.

This happened after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, reinstating the old anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” and banning the current “Arise, O Compatriots”, which was adopted in the late 1970s and is the country’s second national anthem.
