Abuja employer sparks outrage, seeks house help with international passport and offers ₦17k monthly pay

An Abuja employer has provoked online outrage by posting an ad for a housekeeping job that pays only 17,000 per month and requires an international passport.

A job posting for a housekeeper in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja, was detailed in the post, which went viral on the social media site X (formerly Twitter).

The employer is looking for a person who is willing to travel frequently with the kids in addition to having a valid international passport.

In spite of these rigorous requirements, the salary is ₦17,000 a month, or ₦215,000 a year.

The person who posted the job on X explained that she was not the one hiring but was taken aback by the job posting and wanted other people to see it as well.

She wrote, “I’m not the one hiring, but as shocked as you are, I thought I’d share it so others don’t miss out on the surprise.”

As the post gained traction, concerned social media users flooded the comment section, expressing their thoughts on the controversial job offer.
