A Nigerian man living in Europe has reportedly been deported after an act of honesty exposed his undocumented immigration status.
The incident, which has gone viral on social media, was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @AsakyGRN. According to the account, the Nigerian man found a lost wallet and chose to do the right thing by taking it to a nearby police station.
However, events took an unexpected turn when police officers requested his means of identification. The man was reportedly unable to provide valid documents, prompting further checks that revealed he was living in the country illegally.
As a result, he was detained and later deported.
The story has sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing heartbreak over the outcome. One user wrote, “This world no balance. Person do good, na punishment follow.” Another commented, “Law is law. The police did their job.”
Others sympathized deeply with the man’s situation, noting the difficult choices undocumented migrants often face. “He chose honesty over survival. That’s painful,” a user said.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the harsh realities of undocumented life abroad, where even well-meaning actions can carry life-altering consequences.
