2023 Election: Kogi Police restrict movement and use of sirens, among other things

The Nigerian Police Force has reiterated its commitment to enforcing restrictions on vehicular movements across Kogi State ahead of today’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a statement issued Friday night by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security in Kogi State, CP Yekini Ayoku, also informed the public about the prohibition on the use of sirens, revolving lights, and covered registration number plates.

Ayoku urged VIPs to follow the directive that no one move around with security details.

He warned all security aides not to accompany their principals to polling places, as anyone found breaking the rule would face repercussions.

The Police Commissioner also stated that unauthorized security firms are not permitted to participate in election security management.

He also assured Kogi State residents of adequate security measures put in place by the Command in collaboration with other security agencies in the state to ensure the security and safety of lives and property before, during, and after the election.

While cautioning would-be troublemakers who might want to test the security forces’ capacity to refrain from such an act, CP Ayoku urged members of the public to come out and vote, as adequate security arrangements had been made to ensure a violence-free election.
