Google, the world’s largest search engine, is commemorating Nigeria with a special doodle on its website as the country holds its general election on Saturday.
The doodle features the Nigerian green-white-green color scheme, as well as a picture of an election ballot box.
A click on the doodle takes you to a new page where you can view the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) website – timetable for the 2023 general election and 2023 general election updates.
When you hover your cursor over the doodle, it says “Nigeria National Elections 2023.”
The Google doodle is used to commemorate a special day when Nigerians elect their next leader to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
It has been used to commemorate a variety of historical figures and events all over the world.
Meanwhile, INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu announced on Thursday that 87.2 million Nigerians had received their Permanent Voters Cards, or PVCs.
Yakubu stated that the current voter register contains over 93.4 million voters and that INEC will continue to clean it up using technology in the future.
He noted that 93.3 percent of PVCs were collected, while 6,259,229 cards — or 6.7% of PVCs — remained uncollected.
