“₦102k for 14 years?” – Outrage as Covenant University allegedly pays staff ₦102k gratuity after years of service

A photo circulating on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked widespread outrage after it allegedly showed a Covenant University staff member receiving just ₦102,000 as gratuity for 14 years of service.

The image, which displays a cheque dated recently, has drawn sharp criticism toward the institution, which is owned by Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church.

The viral post, shared by user @Engrbimmy, reads:

“When a university said to be founded and run by God himself pays you a gratuity of 102k after 14 years of service.
It’s either God is wicked or the university isn’t run by God.”

Netizens Reacts

Social media users quickly condemned the alleged payment, describing it as a “mockery” of hard work and loyalty.

Many argued that ₦102,000 roughly ₦7,285 per year was unworthy compensation from a university that charges some of the highest tuition fees in Nigeria.

Some skeptics, however, questioned the authenticity of the cheque, suggesting it could represent a monthly salary rather than a gratuity.
