Nekede Polytechnic suspends staff caught on video assaulting student

A Federal Polytechnic Nekede employee in Imo State was suspended by the school after a video of him assaulting a student went viral.

The announcement was made in a post on X, formerly Twitter, where the school confirmed the suspension.

A letter detailing the decision was also circulated online. It reads in part:

Suspension from Duty – Mr. Okoroafor Ifeanyichukwu.”

You are hereby suspended from duty as a facilitator in the Technical and Entrepreneurship Development Centre pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident that occurred on March 13, 2025, at the site of your entrepreneurship training.”

A video surfaced that showed the staff member pushing the student to the ground and slapping him, which led to the staff member’s suspension.

As the footage gained traction online, concerned individuals took to the comment section to express their thoughts on the incident.

See some reactions below:

@ThoughtsPointe: “He should have been arrested sef coz if it’s a female student the matter for blow pass this

@sabigirlstories: “Good reward for bad behavior… adults need training too. Hope others learn from this.”

@almst_oblivious: “Meanwhile abuad would suspended the person that made the video/posted it, blame the assaulted student and praise the lecturer.”

@saed_writes: “How can this attracts suspension alone? Whoever is guilty of this behaviour should be kept behind bars for a long period of time. You are being way too lenient on them if you are only suspending them.”

@UgwuNnaemekaKi1: “Very unfortunate incident.  Thank God that the institution has lived up to expectation.”

@elvis_okolie: “Not even a lecturer 🤣🤣. These guys are giving us a bad reputation.”

@Willymyguy: “He should also be arrested and taken to court for gross misconduct. A Facilitator shouldn’t be acting like a wild animal.”

@Rozam1030: “He is very wicked and deserve to be sacked.. What could have provoked him to that extent.”
