Nollywood actress and director Mercy Aigbe has talked about the severe health issues she faced while making her most recent film, Thinline.
Mercy shared on Instagram today, December 20, 2024, that she woke up on set with extremely painful and swollen eyes, which led to her being admitted to the hospital.
Doctors determined that the swelling in her eyes was a serious infection, according to the veteran actress who had trouble selling the film when it first came out.
“Throwback to the set of Thinline. I woke up one morning on set, and my eyes were like this (swollen and red). We couldn’t film, we had to break set, and the pain that came with this was excruciating. I was hospitalised. In fact, it was a whole lot of challenges!” she wrote.
Mercy thanked everyone for surviving the production process, which she called a difficult and emotional rollercoaster without exception.
“It’s been an experience on this journey with Thinline, a whole lot of challenges, but in all, I still GIVE GOD THE GLORY 🙏🙏🙏,” she added.
Mercy shared a humorous story about a conversation she had with someone who wondered if her difficulties were related to the film’s plot. She chuckled at the idea and said, “Oh, I do not think so!”
The actress characterized the movie as a labor of love that involved “blood, sweat, pain, and hard work.” She also urged others to see Thinline in theaters and thanked fans who had already seen it.
