Obianuju Catherine Udeh, professionally known as DJ Switch, a popular Nigerian disc jockey and activist, has weighed in on the ongoing discussion about the good samaritan who refunded 10.8 million naira.
Remember how Timothy, a mechanic, refunded the millions of naira he was wrongfully credited by a customer and was rewarded with $50,000 for his good character?
Netizens were outraged that the man had been offered such a pittance for performing an extraordinary feat that others might not consider.
In response to the outrage, DJ Switch took to Twitter and stated that putting a price on doing good was wrong.
She wrote;
“This idea that one “must” be rewarded for doing what is right and also what exactly they “should” get as a reward is a bad precedent. Doing what is right should be indicative of one’s character. If people choose to reward you, awesome… but I think it’s wrong to put a price on it.”
